All performers — known, unknown, soon-to-be-known, published or not, first time before an audience or not — are invited to come and perform their writings, poems, songs or stories. Sign up with the host at the venue starting at 4:30 pm. Each participant has a maximum of five minutes for his or her performance. 8:30 pm Don’t bother me with your chocolates, honey!Hosted by Alexis O’Hara With performers Alex Boutros and Kaarla Sundstrom; Hilary Peach of Vancouver; Ottawa rapper Anthony Bansfield; native singer Ndnboy; exceptionally in Montreal, the iconoclastic group Fluffy Pagan Echoes (Vincent Tinguely, Victoria Stanton, Ran Elfassy, Scott Duncan); the winner of the Poetry Slam; and francophone performer Geneviève Letarte who will mutate into English for the night, accompanied by audio artist Chantal Dumas. Three videos will be projected: This Fire, directed by Marlene Millar, with Ian Ferrier on voice and guitar; and Salt in the Wound and Je Mens by Victoria Stanton. $6.00 An English-language show featuring an explosive mix of amusements, absurdities, activism, slung truths, rhythm and rap, kitschiness, craziness and other subtleties. Add “impure” poetry and shake it all up. Sense of humour recommended. Welcome one and all… and who knows, maybe Cupid will be among the guests! Once again our talented enchantress Alexis O’Hara will be running the show.
