Presentation

Phénomena is a bilingual interdisciplinary event produced by the daring Filles électriques, who have been based in the Mile-End for the past 13 years.

Our goal is to promote and disseminate emerging practices and unclassifiable and atypical approaches. The Festival presents whimsical acts, shadow theatre, tableaux-vivant, object theatre, cabarets, performance dance, experimental music, and performances with projections and poetic installations using new technologies.

In just three years, Phénomena has become a platform of choice for a community of emerging, independent, and nonconformist artists. Without a doubt, our greatest source of inspiration is Georges Méliès, inventor of the first special effects for cinema, who was also illusionist, actor, director, and decorator. He was an early proponent of the DIY concept, an approach very dear to us.

Phénomena has the distinction of being an avant-garde and daring festival that reaches both an initiated and an uninitiated audience. And our shows are presented at an unreasonably reasonable price—which allows us to take risks.

Welcome to our world!
